About Woolgoolga

Woolgoolga is a beautiful seaside town famed for its large Indian population and Sikh temples, and is affectionately known as "Woopi" to locals.

Woolgoolga is 586 km’s northeast of Sydney and only 25 km’s north of Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. There are many attractions to be found here, including some of the best coastal views in NSW at Woologoolga Headland.

Enjoy swimming, or surfing at the many beaches, where rock and estuary fishing and shady picnic areas. The town centre has a range of shops, restaurants, supermarkets and clubs.

When you see the stunning white domes of a Sikh Temple with it's traditional architecture you know you've reached Woolgoolga. With approval, visitors may enter the temple to experience this special and sacred place.

Originally a cedar-cutting town, the locals tried their hands at sugar cane growing and banana growing before diversifying into many other forms of trade. Only 10km north of Woolgoolga is Yuraygir National Park, where you'll find kilometres of pristine beaches, sand dunes, bushwalking trails as well as camping and picnic spots.
